Seminar on “Media and democracy”

Seminar on “Media and democracy”

US journalist marguerite H. Sullivan, director of the center for international media assistance at the Washington –based National endowment for democracy , shared her thought on “media and democracy” on August 4,2009 2 from 2.30 to 4.00 p.m. at the auditorium of the university of liberal art Bangladesh. Most of the faculties and about 150 students were present the seminar.
The seminar was addressed by Associate professor Md. Shamsul Islam where professor. Rafiqul Islam, Vice chancellor, ULAB gave the opening speech.
In this seminar Sullivan discussed about democracy, the essential features and prerequisites of democracy, role of the media in safeguarding the democracy and the process to strengthen the media institution. She also highlighted about the important of media ethics. She said, Ethics is a very much important for journalism. Professional journalist should have ethics. Exposing unethical issue is not well sometimes.
She also highlighted how media use in different side like, government, Corruption etc. she said media is the watchdog for the government and in education media plays an important role.
She told in seminar that, in Bangladeshi media there are especially three problems she has found, these are, 1. Source 2. Identification of source 3. Investigative journalism.
There is lacking of these three things in Bangladeshi media, she has highlighted.

Sullivan has done extensive communication training worldwide who the author of the award winning book entitled a responsible press office: an insider’s Guide”.
She was Executive director of the national Commission for UNESCO. She started her professional career as a journalist, became executive editor of “The Washington Women” and the president of Washington press Club.

Parents: parents are so important for the family.father is the head of our family. On the other hand in the absent of father mother is become head of the family.a father carry different types of power. He always try to control whole family. From the born we trough that father Is more powerful then the other parson of the family.

Others power:

Government power: every country should have a government. government is the most powerful of that country. He can do many thing through the constitution.most of the time government different types of power like

Police: police is so important of a country. Without police government can not control there country. It is very difficult to run the nation easily without the police nan.people always try to avoid the police.

Rab : rapid action battalion. Rab also serve our nation. They are trying to control the crime. people fell more fear when they see a RAB. They are always carry the gun.

 Bangaladeshi people are more friendly then the other country people.
 Bangladesh is the developing country, we are developing day by day.
 We have population. It’s all about 15 core above people in our country.
 We are the bangladeshi people use bangladeshi language.


Indian:

 Most of the indian people follow the hindusm
 India also develop country.
 The people are not that much helpful.
 They are follow the multicultural.
 They are mainly practicing the hindusm.
 All the indians use the hindi language.


Pakistani:

 Pakistanni people also practicing islam
 They like to ware panjabi cably.
 They use urdu language.
 they are physicaly very strong and tole.
They are very much rugh.

About Our Myth

in our country we have different types of mental confusion like,

1. when we go outside that time if we see two bards together we thought that something can happened to me.

2. If we see ,suddenly the cat across to me,that time we thing something wrong.

2. If our i brow vibrating that time we thing something happen with me.Which is very bad.

3. when we see one bird we thing whole day going bad, when we see two birds we thing whole day going good, when we see three birds we thing a letter will come, when we see four birds together that time we thing special one coming.

5. If we call someone from the backside that time we thing problems are coming .

6.All the time our parents said that do not eat on the broken plate. If you eat that plate you suffering the problem. Probably you cut your strength of your life.

7. Do not see your face on the broken mirror. If you see your face on the broken mirror then your luck become bad.

About our ULAB logo

what are the meaning of denotation and connotation and it means?

Every school ,college and university have a logo or flag of there own. the logo have different meaning. So that they every one can understand that there vision should be produce high educated people .


In our university we have a logo.logo have different meaning.there is some yellow,blue,white and black combination logo. there is a pen which is inside the logo. I thing pen is a symbol of education which is goes higher and higher.i thing color is nothing.they use color so that it looks good.but pen is very important which is symbol of our higher education.


On the other hand ulab logo is symbol of education. The logo means that come to us and make the better life in future. I thing it is a gate where we enter and when we live hear that time we are able to run our life easily.

What do you thing this class about?

Ans : this class is very Important for the reading media text students.it is not only the reading media text student but also every media students.this class environment is very nice.we lean lot of things during the class.probably we have to see so many move in this class.this class roles should be very strong. No one can not enter the class after one minute.every one should sit like semi circle.every one submit there assignment before the class.there have a blogging system .we will submit our assignment through the blog. This class will help us to know about the reading media text.now we have to now ,what is the reading media text? Why we study reading media? Where we use it? How they run? Madam will take every home work in the class. So we have to finished our home work day to day.


What do I want to get out of this class?

Ans : after this course probably we learn lot ,which is help to our work.this course will help to our future life. We will be very punctual about our time.we will able to make a text.We learn properly.we need to study more. finally we will earn good marks on that particular course.
